"Just returned from 2 weeks in this hotel and have to say it was amazing. The staff front of house welcomed us with a complimentary drink. All the staff were very friendly, pleasant and nothing was to much trouble I have to give a big shout out to the animation team what a great bunch of people very friendly and happy apart form Michael who i kept beating at pool. Ambrose and team keep doing what your doing you all amazing and very friendly, hope your bosses appreciate the hard work you put in to keep your guest smiling and happy. You certainly made my 50th 1 i will never forget thank you all."

"We have just returned from a two week stay. This was our first trip to The Gambia. We have always said it’s a big wide world and we would never go to the same place twice - but this would be an exception and we would most certainly go back. The hotel is very clean, the bedroom (deluxe sea view) was large with a large en suite shower room. Don’t expect modern chrome and everything in whites and greys - but it was all extremely clean and made up beautifully every day by the wonderful Fatou. Our room (112) was literally 20 yards from the beach with great views. Food was varied - we don’t think we saw the same meals twice in the two weeks. Plenty of fruit and salads, (pancakes for me in the mornings!), or full fry ups. Always various meat and fish dishes with vegetables and normally a pasta dish at lunch and supper. Plenty of salads. Lots of cake for pudding! The pool and surrounding area was always clean. There are very helpful attendants who drag the sun loungers out onto the beach for you if you want to laze by the sea under the palm trees or the natural parasols. You will get the odd visit from local people selling fruit juices or fresh fruit or peanuts. We did not find them pushy and once we had G-Boy making our juice every day and Genoba delivering fruit other sellers seemed to know we were catered for and left us alone. Of course you can get fruit juice or fruit from the all inclusive deal in the hotel, but actually it’s not a fortune to support these micro businesses and it’s definitely appreciated. What makes this hotel great is without doubt the staff. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left they could not have done more, been more friendly and welcoming or kind. We don’t like to sit still for too long, so we actually went out of the hotel pretty much every day, sometimes just for a walk, other times to go on half day or full day trips (we did these through the local guys in the Skinny Gorilla Cafe, which is 5 minute stroll on the beach from the hotel). However, if you prefer to stay in one place and just soak up the sun then the anime team here were amazing - big shout out to Max and his colleagues. If you feel like it you can be involved in all sorts; aqua aerobics, darts competitions, volleyball, water polo etc. There is a gym there as well (I had good intentions but actually never used it!) There was different entertainment every evening, from local music and dance displays to live music of popular songs, karaoke, raffle of local merchandise etc. A great base - Bakau was fun to walk round or go out in, and it is not far at all if you want to go to Banjul city. We could go on more about our holiday at this hotel….but we need to look at booking our next trip there!"

"We came via Gatwick airport , with a bus transfer. The hotel staff greeted us and where very polite. This carried on for the duration of our stay, we had great time. Hotel was very spacious and well presented ellexcent beach and pool facilities. Very relaxing week! The animation and service staff really stood out and made our stay very enjoyable and entertaining."

"We stayed here for 3 weeks recently, our 4th visit to this hotel. Following a 3 year absence it was good to return. There were a few changes, sea facing rooms are extra. We opted for a garden room which faced the beach so we were very happy with that! Room was super clean and spacious with a large walk in shower. Thank you Abdu for a great service! Reception staff were always on hand and a new safe was installed within one hour when I reported an issue. Money exchange was very quick and efficient with a fair rate. The entertainment team were great fun and went round to every guest daily with the days itinerary. Thank you Magai (mad Max) Fatima, King Michael(the best dancer, wow) and all the team. We spent most days on the beach and enjoyed watching the fishermen catching fish with lines and nets. The vast expanse of beach made a nice daily walk. Mohammed and Edward will bring a lounger and towels and always somewhere to sit. A great service! Amy and Yolanda work at the beach bar and we had regular drinks delivered to us. Again, a great service. The restaurant was cool and airy and provided some very tasty dishes all served on the buffet. All beautifully cooked. The waiters worked tirelessly. Ebrima Deen made the best cappuccino’s and gin and tonic and Solomon had the biggest smile. The grounds are well tended and I loved the frangipani trees, the scent from the flowers so sweet and lemony. There is a gym close to the beach with treadmills exercise bikes, weights and benches. It is not air conditioned but cool enough early morning. The manager would always stop for a chat with us and would tour round the hotel chatting and shaking hands with the staff. He clearly has a good rapport with them and this makes for a highly motivated team of employees. Outside the hotel there are a few eateries and bars. Mr. Bass show all the football matches and beer is cheap. 500ml can of Cody’s is 150 dalasi. We didn’t eat there but there is a varied menu.The Indian restaurant ZAIKA was a favourite of hours (also reviewed) and Calypso which was nice if a bit pricey. There is a small crocodile pool there. The crocs are fed fish at 4pm each day and a live band plays every Sunday from2-5pm. Calypso is right on the beach and just a 10 minute walk. The tourist taxi company immediately outside the hotel offer trips as well as a taxi service and we used them a couple of times. It was good to see that the Sunbeach has weathered the covid storm and continues to be a great place for some winter sun. We wish you every success!"

"This hotel and the staff does everything it can to make your holiday a lovely experience. The entertainments team check on everyone, everyday to ensure that you have what you need and to let you know what's on that day. Special mention must go to the 'show' that the team put on twice a week, They really are amazing dancers! Ambrose's and Max's team are lovely people but special mention to Treasure who is avery talented dancer. Food is colourful fresh and varied. The food and beverage staff are all friendly and helpful. It is difficult to single out one person as they are ALL really nice people. I will definitely return."
